Ultimamente estoy usando menos texturas y dandole un aspecto mas natural a mis fotos, no se si lo consigo ya que siempre tiendo a cargar la mano...

El domingo pasado fuimos a blanes, fue un dia magnifico para hacer fotos, el cielo era espectacular y el sol salia por entre las densas nubes. El pequeño chaparron que cayo fue la guinda.

Yo no soy muy jugon.. pero de vez en cuando me gusta echar alguna partida a la consola. He pasado por todas, desde la Comodore, que aun guardo, pasando por toda la serie de nintendo y la ultima PS3, que era de mi hermano, que si que utilizaba y era un gran aficionado.
Solo tengo un juego para la Play 3, Resistence: Fall of Man, una caña, aunque algo antiguo, venia con la PS3 original. Estas Enero me dio por comprar un par mas, dos de la saga Call of Duty, ya que son los que me gustan, esos en primera persona en los que vas con armas diversas y te cazan a la primera de cambio, me costaron una barbaridad, los juegos aqui son cariiisimos, tenia pensado comprarlos en Amazon UK que aun con gastos de envio salen un 30% mas baratos. Pues nada, me compro los juegos, mas otro que me deja un amigo a cambio del Fall of Man, y como hace tiempo que solo juego a este ultimo, muy ufano me dirijo a casa para disfrutar eliminando nazis y otros enemigos de la humanidad.

Llego a mi casa y conecto la PS3, meto el juego que me dejo mi amigo -sera el primero, para poder devolverselo cuanto antes- y espero a que carge...............................................................................................................................................

No carga.............. que raro, estara mal el juego........ pruebo con uno de los que compre.... tampoco lo lee.... ni siquiera sale el disco en la pantalla, como si no existiera.... pongo el otro y lo mismo.... el mosqueo y la decepción son grandes, no puedo jugar... estara jodido el lector ?? se que suelen estropearse bastante. Pruebo un DVD, perfecto, un Blue Ray, se ve de coña... pongo un dvd con una serie en divx... cojonuda.... no lo entiendo, con los juegos nuevos no va, pero si funciona con un par que tengo de la play 2, y si funcionaba con el Fall... pues nada, toca investigar y preguntar a San Google.

Despues de leer un par webs y foros, veo que hay bastante gente con el mismo problema, los juegos no funcionan, los DVD no se reproducen, su cuelga la consola, da error 80010514... Los foros estan que bullen. Me meto en alguno oficial y veo que hay cientos, miles, quizas millones en todo el mundo afectados por el error.

La cuestion es que Sony lanzo dos actualizaciones para la Play 3, la 3.50 y la 3.55. Con la primera empezaron los problemas, y con la segunda el desastre fue total. Habian hecho actualizar las consolas con un firmware que era exclusivo para tapar agujeros de seguridad, o sea, para evitar que los "piratas" que tenian manipulada la consola pudieran usarla.Lo que pasa es que, o son unos ineptos o unos inconscientes a los que no les importan para nada sus usuarios. O sea, que para impedir un "delito" informatico, impiden durante cuatro meses a los usuarios "normales" hacer uso de lo que buen dinero les ha costado, y lo que habremos de esperar aun.......

Sony, creo que la gente ya se cansó y van por via legal contra vosotros, ojala tuvierais que pagar a cada uno de nosotros una buena indenmizacion, por jetas.

Si usais la Play 3 no actualiceis con el firmware 3.55 0 3.56 !!

Un bonito arte es el de la fotografia, al igual que el cine, o la pintura, o la escultura, y salvando las distancias y las diferencias entre ellas, cada autor plasma su manera de ver la realidad de forma artistica con mayor o menor fortuna, no hay dos obras iguales. Si tuviera que elegir entre Velazquez o Monet me vería en un dilema, el primero casi hiper-realista, y el segundo etéreo y sensible.

Uno de los lugares mas bellos que vi en mi viaje a Galicia fue el puerto y alrededores de Finisterre, tambien es el lugar mas ventoso del mundo, creo... parece que eolo se concentrara en machacar ese lugar sin contemplación.

Sant Pol de Mar. La iglesia no vale mucho, pero el conjunto es interesante.

Un retrato robado que le hice no sin dificultad, a una tabernera en la Feria Medieval de Vic.

Sant Pol de Mar. La parte de los miradores es uno de los lugares de interes de Sant Pol, por la noche se anima el paseo y se llenan sus bares de tapeo.

La Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias de Valencia. Simplemente alucinante ese lugar, tengo que volver, esta vez me llevare el tripode.

Un edificio en el puerto de Badalona. Para darle el toque final use un programa llamado Auto Painter. Cree varias copias diferentes con el, y las fundí por zonas con la foto original. Los resultados pueden ser dispares, en este caso no me desagrada.

Me encanta trabajar las fotos de animales, es mas facil de que te queden bien que las piedras, son mas agradecidos y bellos. Este pato lo retrate en el Bioparc de Valencia, una parque magnifico, un zoo que me gustaria tener aqui. Amplios espacios y una gozada para el amante de los animales.
En esta foto he usado principalmente Nic Color, pintando por zonas los colores y dandoles fuerza, para el toque final le meti un poco de Redinamix, tambien en zonas aisladas.

Este macaco es un inquilino del zoo de barcelona. No es facil retratarlos, la luz es mala y los reflejos molestos.

Esta foto me dio muy poco trabajo. Suelo pasarme varias horas con los negativos con edificios y cielos. Los colores de los animales son lo suficientemente bellos para disfrutar sin meterle mucha mano a la foto.
Para la parte inferior he usado el filtro "Flood" de flamingpear, justo en la linea del pico y las patas.

Me encanta darle fuerza a las imagenes, para eso uso el plugin Nik Color pro, de lo mejor para el retoque fotografico. Otro plugin de Nik, "Viveza", es excelente tambien para saturar o cambiar el color a la foto. Si no los conoceis no os lo penseis...

En la plaza Real de Barcelona siempre se encuentran escenas chuscas, pero hay que ir con cuidado si no quieres que te monten una buena.

Este es un restaurante de alto copete que hay justo antes de llegar a Riells. La verdad es que es un sitio encantador para sacar fotos, aunque el encargado me comento, no muy amablemente, que debia etiquetar las fotos para poder publicarlas. Si os acercais a la ermita de Riells, pasaros por ahi.

Este personaje, junto a otros que ire poniendo, estaba en el mercado Medieval de Vic, que se realizó dias atras. Habia que pagar 6€ para entrar, los cuales te los canjeaban por una moneda replica de la epoca, que podias gastar en algun producto, una buena idea.

Uno de los rincones del gotico barcelones. Uno de los mejores fotografos que conozco, Joanot, nos visitó junto a QuimG y Ximocapellino. Pasaron unos dias en Barcelona y nos reunimos con otros amigos. Desde aqui les saludo con cariño.

Hay bastantes fotos que por no convencerme demasiado se quedan en el tintero, algunas por demasiado procesado, otras por no tener un buen encuadre, y la mayoria por verse adelelantadas por otras mas recientes o no estar terminadas del todo. Algunas tienen mas de 1 año, pero no estan mal. Ahi van algunas de las muchas que tengo perdidas y ahora halladas.

Lo primero, saludar a todos los amig@s, que desde hace años he ido haciendo por los blogs donde he coincidido, Eshock fui el primero, y el que mas alegrias me produjo, una gran web sin duda. Siento no pasarme mas por webs como 1PocodMusica, un sitio agradable para charlar con los amigos y disfrutar de rarezas musicales y buenas fotos. Soy asi.... que le voy a hacer. Me paso dias e incluso meses sin llamar a buenos amigos, pero eso no significa que no les tenga presentes, cuando coincidimos es como el reencuentro de los camaradas que regresan del frente, siempre hay cosas que contar, y el hombro donde llorar las penas siempre esta presto a apoyarte. No se si sera la falta de tiempo, o quizas que otras absorbentes ocupaciones me llenan el tiempo y me quitan las ganas de blogear, no se, me siento algo avergonzado por ese abandono, espero que no me lo tengais en cuenta. Hoy por hoy, y creo que por mucho tiempo, la fotografia y la edicion me absorben toda la energia, momento que tengo, momento que abro un negativo y me pongo a retorcerlo. Por lo menos, espero que mis fotos os alegren la vista :)

Cada dia me divierte mas salir a disparar mi cámara y captar paisajes y momentos irrepetibles, pero como mejor lo paso es trabajando los negativos para darles un lustre diferente. Como no podía ser de otra manera, para gustos, colores, y no a todo el mundo le gusta ver una transformación radical de una foto. Yo lo tengo bastante claro, una buena foto con un minimo de retoque sigue siendo una buena foto, pero tal como sale de la camara suele ser pobre en contraste y niveles, hay que meterle mano con algun programa de retoque, y ahi esta lo divertido.

Con algunas fotos con las que creo no voy a conseguir demasiado, intento divertirme y darles una vision diferente. Supongo que como todo arte, la fotografia intenta dar una vision "no real" de la "realidad". Cualquier trozo de realidad es supceptible de dar una buena imagen, solo es cuestion de buscarle el mejor tratamiento, dentro de los limitados conocimientos que uno tiene, y experimentar sin miedo. Le comentaba a un visitante del blog, que cuando pintaba, me era muy dificil plasmar esa "realidad" con los pinceles, con la fotografia es mas sencillo, y no me estreso tanto como con los oleos ante un liezo en blanco.

This is the fourth in the new, brilliant series of Jefferson Starship liverecordings, "Mick's Picks". And this is time it's an almost brand new show, from 9/9/07, at one of their favorite venues B.B. King's Bluesclub in N.Y..Where quite a few of their peers still draw capacity crowds, Paul Kantner & Co. seem happy to play adventurous and inventive Music for smaller audiences.

The show is primarily chosen for it's unique setlist. Starting off with a series of Airplane classics, mainly from "Surrealistic Pillow", and it's of course always a treat to hear these legendary psychedelic songs in new, fresh arrangements. Then drifting into a string of those gorgous, latin-tinged Marty Balin lovesongs, a genre few masters better than him. In fact Marty is in great form throughout, as leadvocalist that is, for his harmony vocals aren't excactly spot on (and the same goes for Paul).

Second set starts off with some material from Paul's soloalbum, including the firts ever liveversion of "Millions" (from the legendary "Sunfighter" album) and "Your Mind Has left Your Body", perhaps the most intelligent and profound song ever written about the entheogenic experience. And then drifts into a string of Starship hits.

Diana Mangono makes some of those beautiful Grace Slick songs come alive, notably "Lather" and "Fast Buck Freddie". David Freiberg shines on Quicksilver's "Pride Of Man" and his own wonderful ballad "Harp Tree Lament", set to one of those poignant and touching Robert Hunter lyrics. While the versatile Slick Aquilar plays some stellar lead, a great technician with a strong psychedelic sensibility.

There's not much jamming, and the show certainly isn't flawless, with some false starts and some serious 'trainwrecks', but it's LIVE, creative, funnny and deeply fullfilling.

Mis paseos por el puerto han dado buenos frutos, por lo menos el tiempo ha acompañado y he podido disfrutar de una mañana fotografica explendida. Poco a poco voy aprendiendo a "domar" el hdr. Entiendo que haya gente a la que no le guste... pero eso es como todo, hay personas a las que solo les gusta la fotografia en blanco y negro, técnica maravillosa por otra parte.

Los paseos por Barcelona son siempre fructiferos, y hoy a hecho un dia muy agradable para pasear y hacer fotografias. tengo mas en la recamara que ire poniendo, ahora que le estoy cogiendo el gusto a las tecnicas de retoque, realmente estoy disfrutando. Las fotografias tal como salen de la camara, la mayoria de las veces les falta algo... luz, o contraste, y hay quedarle un retoque general. Comprobad como en la primera fotografia se nivelan las altas luces y las sombras, dando una imagen agradable y real.

La verdad es que a muchos, esta tecnica del HDR le puede resultar poco natural, pero todo es como trates la imagen y lo que espere el espectador de la vision. En la mayoria de mis fotos trato que estas realcen la realidad, no siempre lo logro, pero como diria aquel... y lo que me divierto!!

Hacia tiempo que tenia ganas de volver a coger la camara, hoy me he decidido y he paseado por Barcelona camara y tripode a cuestas. Estoy probando la tecnica HDR para dar un efecto especial a las tomas. No todas las fotos quedan bien asi, pero las pruebas no han salido mal del todo.

En el punto de disolución de la formación clásica de la Jefferson, despues del live "Thirty seconds over Winterland", algunos miembros de la familia Airplane junto al recien incorporado David Freiberg (Quicksilver Messenger Service" y con algunas colaboraciones de lujo como Jerry Garcia o las Pointer Sisters, editan este "Baron Von Tollbooth..", maravilloso disco entre la psicodelia y el folk, que fue el germen de lo que despues seria la continuación de la saga Jefferson con la marca Starship, ya alejados del crudo sonido que aportaban Cassady y Kaukonen, adoptando aires mas aor y "formula FM", que les reportaron buenos beneficios economicos, pero que no satisfizo las espectativas. En sus ultimos discos, la Starship ha vuelto a recuperar la energia de esos años y nos ha ofrecido dos discos maravillosos, "Windows of Heaven" y el ultimo "Trees of Liberty".

Credited to Paul Kantner, Grace Slick, and David Freiberg, Baron von Tollbooth & The Chrome Nun was the first album made by these erstwhile members of Jefferson Airplane since the breakup of that group. Like such other spin-off projects as Blows Against the Empire and Sunfighter, this one featured a supporting cast of San Francisco Bay Area musicians including present and former members of a variety of groups, such as The Grateful Dead (lead guitarist Jerry Garcia, percussionist Mickey Hart, and lyricist Robert Hunter, who wrote the words to "Harp Tree Lament"), Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young (singer David Crosby), and The Flying Burrito Brothers (bassist Chris Ethridge), as well as other former members of The Airplane and future members of Jefferson Starship. The Pointer Sisters even guested on one track. Despite the co-billing, the album's guiding force was Slick, who sang on every track and wrote or co-wrote six of the ten songs, though there was still room for the unbilled Jack Traylor to write, play acoustic guitar, and sing lead vocals on the song "Flowers of the Night," a celebration of monarchial overthrows throughout history. Perhaps more outside songwriting should have been employed, since the compositions here were second-rate. The public was catching on, too: Kantner's Blows Against the Empire had reached the Top 20, but Baron von Tollbooth didn't come near the Top 100. The team would attempt one more splinter project, Slick's "solo" album Manhole, then re-organize as Jefferson Starship in 1974 with the notable return of singer/songwriter Marty Balin.

Ray Davies y los Kinks marcaron con fuerza la decada de los 60 y 70, y eran mis favoritos, junto a Beatles, Jefferson, Who... La manera de cantar y componer de Davies era diferente, comercial pero con gran calidad musical. Recuerdo que uno de los que mas me engancho fue "Arthur", disco sin desperdicio como todos los de esa epoca. Este "Working man´s Cafe" me remonta a esa epoca locual no es poco.

Ray Davies took his time crafting his first full-fledged solo album Other People's Lives, delivering it in 2006 -- a full 13 years after his last collection of original material, the Kinks' final album Phobia. Such a long gestation period seemed justified, as the album was an exquisitely written set of short stories that benefited from such exacting attention to detail, yet the length of time between Phobia and Other People's Lives also suggested that Davies would not be returning with his second solo album anytime soon. As it turns out, that wasn't the case: Davies hammered out his second album, Working Man's Café, with a speed recalling the '60s and '70s, when new Kinks albums arrived every year. Appropriately for its quick turn-around, Working Man's Café is a looser, edgier record than its predecessor -- there's polish, but the guitars and rhythms jump, there's a vitality to the performances and the songs themselves bristle with contemporary headlines, bearing references to the vanishing middle class, internet isolation, and New Orleans, the site of both Hurricane Katrina and where Davies was shot and hospitalized after defending a female friend from a mugger. Ever the contrarian, Davies doesn't dwell on his own troubles, they're weaved into part of a tapestry of vignettes of a world gone awry -- a common theme in his work perhaps (this is someone who pined for the village green in the midst of the psychedelic revolution), but such ornery nostalgia has fueled much of Davies best work, as it does here. Far from being an angry, impassioned screed against a world gone wrong (turn to Neil Young's Living with War for that), Davies writes with his signature wry, cynical eye, balancing his weary resignation with a sly wit. The songs have more bite than those on Other People's Lives, as do the performances, which makes Working Man's Café more immediate than its predecessor, yet it benefits from repeated plays as well, as those subsequent spins reveal that these 12 songs are as finally honed as those on Other People's Lives. And having these two albums arrive so quickly is proof that Ray Davies is back as a working songwriter, which is something to be celebrated.

Remaster Quality: Variable but overrall quite good. All recordings have been standardised as to amplitude (volume) and digitally filtered. Acetate noise is still present but much reduced on that source material. The BBC recordings have been bass boosted (not by me) which is acceptable as they are quite thin sounding (all the other versions I have). The off-air recordings include noise as it was AM and recorded by mike - this has been reduced.

Comment: The Outtakes combined with the BBC give a rounded picture of Cream's playing and development at the time. The BBC performances are not in the class of the the brilliant Hendrix release but there are a few very good ones. Separately the Outakes and BBC are of marginal interest but when I combined them it all came together because of the very brief recording period.

The Best of the BBC Radio Sessions 68-72

For Ziggy Stardust fans it is CD2 which is of most interest as it contains seventeen tracks that David Bowie recorded at various BBC studios in 1972 as Ziggy Stardust. To date these have only been available to fans as part of the fore-mentioned NMC DAVID BOWIE BBC SESSIONS 1969-1972 (sampler) and illegally in various bootlegs.

All but one song of the Ziggy Stardust BBC sessions appears in this new EMI release. The missing song is Bowie's cover of Lou Reed's "White Light - White Heat" from from Sounds of the Seventies (Broadcast: 19 June 1972). To see where these songs were recorded and their history see Ziggy Stardust on Radio, TV, Film & Video.

Following the release it was quickly discovered by fans that the two supposedly different versions of "Ziggy Stardust" on CD2 (Tracks 4 and 12) were in fact the very same track. Presumably someone at EMI made a mistake and duplicated the track of "Ziggy Stardust" from May 1972 leaving the earlier version from January 1972 missing.

EMI then stated that anybody who purchased a copy of BOWIE AT THE BEEB (2000) with this mistake was able to claim a free single-track CD replacement containing the missing version of "Ziggy Stardust". Current pressings of the BBC set now contain the correct versions.

TEMPORARILY BULKED out with a third disc of the recent BBC Radio Theatre show that effectively reprised his headlining Glastonbury set, this 2-CD compilation collects Bowie's earliest sessions from various Top Gear, In Concert, Johnnie Walker and Sounds Of The Seventies shows recorded between May 1968 and May 1972, tracking his progress from Anthony Newley wannabe to the brink of Aladdin Sane, offering a handy aural frieze of his surprisingly arduous climb to superstardom, culminating aptly in the Ziggy-killing Rock 'N' Roll Suicide.

It's interesting to recall Bowie's callow beginnings. The poppy organ and ambitious arrangements of In The Heat Of The Morning and London Bye Ta-Ta are redolent of the Swinging '60s, as are lyrical references to "the ragged soldier catching butterflies". The prissy strings of Karma Man further expose the earnest nature of the hippy years, while solo acoustic versions of God Knows I'm Good and Jacques Brel's Port Of Amsterdam capture the future progenitor of glam in a rather ill-fitting Euro-Dylanesque mode.

Other Space Oddity material finds him in transition: the urgent vocal style and rough, spindly guitar work makes Unwashed And Somewhat Slightly Dazed sound like Dylan with a Diddley beat, which wins the praise of laid-back John Peel. He is rewarded with a balls-aching eight minutes of wordy Cygnet Committee, complete with flamenco flourishes and "I want to live" drama queen finale.

A 1970 Sunday Show performance of The Width Of A Circle captures a pivotal moment in Bowie's early career: the first public appearance of Mick Ronson. It's not an exceptional performance. But he gets into his stride on the disc two which, apart from pulsating covers of I'm Waiting For The Man and White Light/White Heat, focuses almost entirely on Bowie's last few rungs up the stardom ladder with Hunky Dory and Ziggy Stardust, including two virtually indistinguishable takes each of Hang On To Yourself and Ziggy itself. The quality of both performances and recordings is exceptional for the time, with elegant versions of Starman and Oh! You Pretty Things affirming the confident new direction of Bowie's pop sensibility, and muscular renditions of Suffragette City, Queen Bitch and Changes. It wouldn't all be downhill from here on, but Bowie had clearly reached a rarefied plateau from which further ascent would prove difficult.

Klook's Kleek remastered quality: Klooks is dubbed from an LP record (that includes all bootleg versions on CD or tape). Original quality was reasonable but heavily clipped. The remaster needed only a modest rebalance, raising the bass slightly, but successfully reduced noise without loss of musical detail. Recording volume variations are corrected. Vocals are somewhat distant but clear , bass clear and present, drums clear and present but the guitar is dominant, which I feel is a realistic representation of their sound at the time. Sound quality is now good but naturally nothing could be done about the clipped sound.

Konserthusert remastered quality: This was a real enigma as it is widely touted as being of "excellent quality". It's problem is that all the versions I obtained were sped up. The best was a consistent 7%, the worse ranging from 7-15% ("I'm So Glad" was outrageously hyperactive!). I at last obtained a very good one which is a copy of a Swedish rebroadcast of 1972. Only a slight speed adjustment was required (typically) - bass and drums are quite clear with the guitar still somewhat recessed.

Live at the Ricky Tick, Hounslow, W. London. (22nd April. 1967)

Ricky Tick remastered quality: Ricky starts as the best quality recording (though not rated that highly by collectors) and the remaster has made it excellent quality - better than I had anticipated. No rebalancing was required (balance does vary but that is a product of amp volume variation) as the digital noise filtering cleared up the sound marvelously. The bass sound is among the best available and the drums quite clear even though the guitar drowns them on occasions. Eric is playing extremely loud at times! Vocals are also clear - a professional audience bootleg recording (mikes left and right of stage with a quality recorder). Its a short boot remaster but magnificent - the possible additions would have degraded the brilliance of this recording.

Alp, pueblo del pirineo y lugar de veraneo para los amantes del esqui. Es un sitio interesante. Junto a los modernos chalets y apartamentos se alzan imperterritas las casas de la zona vieja. Me impacto la estacion de Renfe, bastante surrealista, con chabolista incluido, un contraste entre el pijerio de la poblacion y la desidia en la conservación de un equipamiento fundamental. Sera que ahi todo el mundo va y viene en 4x4 y no tienen que recorrer los 2 kilometros entre el pueblo y la estacion por un camino embarrado.

Sin duda el otoño es la mejor epoca para pasear y hacer fotografias, con salvedad de la primavera. La luz en otoño es suave, calida, oblicua y dura poco, cosa que te obliga a calcular bien el tiempo que tienes para coger el coche, llegar al punto, y comenzar a caminar buscando los mejores rincones.

Excelente edicion de este concierto de Bowie, con un sonido realmente espectacular.

A Japanese double CD made from the original tape. It is not fair to call it a re-issue of the European CD with the same title, because this one contains the 10 minute intro and the outro. The intro consists of lots of street sounds and the outro is the voice of the promoter announcing that Bowie has left the theatre after the final song. The sound quality is absolutely excellent, which means even better than the European issue.

Me voooooy... al monte.

Aunque dicen que el trabajo ennoblece, yo prefiero el tiempo de vacaciones. Asi que a partir de este sabado, me voy al monte a hacer bolas de nieve y a fotografiar campanarios con los tempanos brillando al sol. Asi que como ya dije la otra vez, quien se este bajando algo del blog y se encuentre sin fuentes, paciencia, que cuando vuelva le daremos de comer a la mula. Pienso pasar unos dias de frio del carallo disfrutando con los paseos y los paisajes invernales, y si la nieve no viene a mi, yo ire a por ella.

Tengo preparados cantidad de discos interesantes, un bootleg de Bowie que se oye de muerte, otro con un Townshend muy brillante, el primero de Boston en version japonesa, los Electric Prunes, mas Bowie, Lou Reed, T. Rex, Jefferson en vivo y unos piratas de Cream realmente sabrosos. Me estoy trabajando los cue de esos bootleg y adecentandolos para mi coleccion y para quien los quiera degustar, canela fina para los oidos y material de primera para los fans.

Un amigo me comentó la noticia de que Yes comenzaba a girar a fin de año... sin Jon Anderson, y no lo pude creer. Yes de gira sin el líder y compositor!? Realmente el mundo del Rock esta mal si se llega a estos extremos. El nuevo cantante es Benoit David del grupo "Close to the Edge", especialista en temas de Yes. La verdad es que el joven canta bien, y la voz se le parece... pero no es Jon, no tiene el carisma de Jon, y no creo que componga como Jon.

Creo que esta muy cabreado con la decision de sus colegas. Volverá Yes al completo ?

Disappointed, and very Disrespected

Disappointed that, with the exception of one phone call from Alan, none of the guys have been in touch since my illness, just to find out how I am doing, and how we will foresee the future for YES. And disappointed that they were not willing to wait till 2009 when I’m fully recovered.

And I feel very disrespected, having spent most of this year creating songs and constant ideas for the band, spending time with Roger Dean creating a stage design, also working with VH1 and Sirius and XM Radio to help promote the welfare of YES.

Getting sick was not "on my radar", and I thank my own angel Janeee and my family for helping me through this difficult time, and the many well wishers, friends and fans alike, for understanding that ''things happen''.

Of course I wish the guys all the best in their 'solo' work, but I just wish this could have been done in a more gentlemanly fashion. After all YES is a precious musical band.

This is not YES on tour...

I send best wishes to one and all."

Casi 10 anos desde el magnifico "Windows of Heaven", la remodelada Jefferson sacan este soberbio "Tree of Liberty", lleno de añejo sabor americano. 18 temas clasicos del folcrore USA tocados con fuerza por Kantner, Balin, la gran Diana Mangano y el descubrimiento de Cathy Richardson de una voz impresionante, ademas de las colaboraciones de Cassady, David Grisman, Slick Aguilar... y Grace Slick en el ultimo tema. No es un disco de psicodelia, ni tiene el tono AOR de los 80, es solo musica de calidad hecha con el convencimiento de que divertirse grabando es la mejor manera de hacer un buen disco. En el lapso entre "Windows" y este disco, la Jefferson ha ido editando una serie de discos en vivo que pueden ser bastante recomendables, intentare encontrarlos para el disfrute general.

Hablar de Jack Bruce es contar la historia de la musica rock. Posiblemente uno de los mejores bajos rock de la historia, Bruce siempre ha hecho la musica que le gustaba en cada momento, sea rock o jazz, dandole a todo un toque de su fuerte personalidad y su buen caracter. En este disco se recorre la primera parte de su historia musical (dejando de lado sus devaneos con el jazz), junto a Clapton en Cream, y sus primeros discos despues de la separacion. Siempre es una gozada escuchar el "Politician" con el duelo de guitarras de Clapton, o "Spoonful", pura adrenalina contenida.

With a track record such as Bruce's, it's no surprise that Collection makes for such an enlightening and entertaining travel through the best tracks of his solo career, and then some. Most notable as the bass player for Cream (and one of the major songwriters alongside Pete Brown), Jack Bruce became one of rock's premier bass guitarists, mastering his resonant and even dynamic bass riffs next to Eric Clapton while befriending Ginger Baker's forceful percussion work. His resumé also includes stints with Manfred Mann, Graham Bond, and Alexis Korner, among other side projects. His solo work, on the other hand, had only Bruce at the helm, and his extraordinary style which integrates jazz, blues, and rock into his songs isolates his true talents and wonderfully puts them into perspective. Collection takes tracks from his best albums -- 1969's Song for a Tailor, 1971's Harmony Row, and 1974's Out of the Storm -- and lays them out amongst a few of Cream's most popular offerings for a truly worthwhile package. Not only does his guitar work come alive, but Bruce's expressive vocals automatically add passion to his musicianship, which can be regarded on "Tales of the Brave Ulysses," "Weird of Hermiston," and "The Clearout." "Theme for an Imaginary Western" is another one of Bruce's gems, made famous by Mountain, while "Rope Ladder to the Moon" and "Politician" uncover the emotive side of Jack Bruce, which was often overshadowed by the likes of Eric Clapton during his days in Cream. The three Cream tracks that do appear, "White Room," "I Feel Free," and "Sunshine of Your Love," all exhibit the significance of his bass playing in the trio, and were carefully chosen as three of the band's most renowned songs. Even minor efforts such as "Golden Days," "As You Said," and "Keep It Down" are enjoyable, straight-ahead blues-rock songs. While some regard many of Bruce's solo albums as inconsistent and a tad trite, there's no denying that Collection is one of the better avenues of exploring this often overlooked and discounted musician.

Monte, Niebla, Sol y Setas

4 dias hemos pasado en plena naturaleza, que es lo que mas le gusta al pobre urbanita rodeado por todas partes de cemento, coches y gente que ni te mira al cruzarse contigo. Como siempre, he aprovechado para hacer algunas fotos, buscar setas y el ultimo día, ver como se realiza el proceso de elaboración culinaria del mejor amigo del hombre, con permiso del can, el cerdo. Estas fotos podrán herir la sensibilidad de algún alma cándida, aunque no creo que a estas alturas, algo tan normal como el despiece de un gorrino pueda herir nada... pero bueno, estáis avisados. Estas ultimas aun no las tengo preparadas, quizás para la semana que viene.

El primer dia amanecio con mucha niebla, algo normal por estos lares. El ambiente era brumoso y bastante fresco. Ibamos en busca del rovellons. Ese esa zona no encontramos ninguno, pero el paisaje era magnifico, y alguna hermosa seta aparecia entre la maleza.

Cambiamos el lugar de busqyeda y nos dirigimos a Alou, direccion Berga. Ahi tubimos mas suerte. Nos recibio Elena, una vaca con un par.

Una parte de la cosecha. Creo que al final llegamos a los dos kilos.

Al final pudimos darnos un buen banquete de rovellons y carne a la brasa, una delicia gastronomica que repetiremos en Noviembre si no pasa nada y queda alguna seta en el monte.

Recuerdo de un amigo

Paco, Jose, Manolo, mi hermano Rodolfo y yo mismo, eramos inseparables desde los 5 años, como 5 hermanos. Cuando jugábamos en el callejón de "ahí detrás" a las canicas, o haciamos experimentos de quimica en el altillo de la granja de Manolo, o escuchabamos musica en casa de Jose. Dias imborrables. Paco me ha enviado un bonito recordatorio de mi hermano y de esos años que copio aqui tal como lo escribio. Lo cuelgo aqui a peticion suya, para que la red reparta su testimonio.

"El dia 14 d'abril de 2007 va...morir en Rulo, en Rodolf, el germà d'en 
Xavi, el petit dels plàstics, l'amic més jove del grup dels cinc que més 
tard, sense en Manolo, es va quedar en quatre...i era jove, massa jove 
per haver de morir.
La mort li arribà desprès de dolors i patiment, i de mancances en la 
salut, en la mobilitat i en la llibertat d'acció que requereix la vida 
si la vols fruir com cal. De més jove va entrar en un món on hi ha pocs 
que se'n surtin bé. La droga dura, tant dura com el ciment, va poder més 
que el seu cos fort i àgil, musculat i poderós, i bonic.  No només les 
drogues tingueren la culpa. La societat abraça aquest món ple de merda i 
el fa quotidià, habitual, creïble, abastable; fins i tot atractiu. La 
droga, finalment és un dels camins per adonar-se que la societat no és 
altra cosa que un monstre que engoleix, mastegant-lo, qui es deixa 
enganyar per ella mateixa i les seves mentides i estadístiques.
 
Per una altra banda i de forma paral·lela, els metges d'aquesta societat 
cerquen remeis, i investiguen amb bon criteri, però desprès sovint 
gestionen erròniament els resultats en els cossos del malalts. Els 
recepten pastilles i operacions i tractaments, i..., i ho fan com si els 
malalts fossin números d'una rifa: al número 25 les pastilles verdes i 
unes jornades de quimio; al 34 les pastilles blanques i les taronges + 
una operació de fetge, al 67 una biòpsia i, si no es queda al quiròfan, 
una operació de fetge o ronyó i unes quantes punxades de sedants per 
enganyar el cap i que no noti res del que li fem...i si el cos es queda 
sense vida no importa...els cirurgians ho superaran perquè no els queda 
altra opció. Diran: ja no tenia remeï, el seu cas era terminal,...encara 
que jo sigui un metge resident bé que he d'operar per agafar 
experiència, ¿què millor que practicar amb un cos que no té remeï?, 
total si es mor que més dóna...així quan arribi el moment de tractar un 
pacient amb futur ja no m'equivocaré amb el bisturí i no el provocaré 
una hemorràgia...i si se la provoco sabré aturar-la per la pràctica...
 
I en acabar van a sopar o a dinar i ho expliquen com qui parla d'un afer 
administratiu, o com qui parla de la neteja del menjador de la casa o 
del cotxe, o de futbol, o del plat de pasta que estan menjant: ¿Saps que 
m'he trobat avui? Un pacient amb el fetge fet merda, el ronyó cardat i 
el pàncrees fotut, li hem fet una biòpsia a veure que li passava, més 
que res per entendre com encara podia funcionar, com podia viure tot 
plegat estant així de fotut...però en treure-li el bisturí ha començat a 
sagnar, i abans no hem reaccionat ja no ha parat. La família ja s'ho 
esperava fa temps, i ell segur que també...bé un cas típic 
d'insuficiència renal, plaquetària i de ritme sanguini...per 
cert,...estan bones aquestes croquetes...semblen de pollastre, passa'm 
el vi...
 
Potser caldria demanar l'informe mèdic i mirar bé si no hi ha hagut 
negligència de cap mena...crec què, segur, algú no ho va fer tot com 
cal...i amb la vida no s'hi juga.
 
En Rulo va deixar amics aquí, bons amics que mai no l'oblidaran. Els 
seus: por la orilla, vaquillas logarinyas, vas tus, etc. restaran a la 
nostra memòria com records bonics i preciosos. El seu riure bonifaci, 
sincer i picardiós també.
 
La vida li va omplir el cap amb cabòries que li impedien tenir temps per 
descansar, sempre feia alguna cosa: música instrumental, dibuix, 
tractament del cuir, treballs de fusta, informàtica, fotografia, 
marqueteria, pintura, guix, electricitat, composició musical...i reia, 
mentre s'aguantava la cigarreta en el forat del queixal que li faltava 
al costat esquerra, i es provocava la tos i els mocs del pit fins que 
els treia i deia: estoy podrido, he de hacer alguna cosa, esto no puede 
ser...i tot seguit: dame un pitillo...jejeje...va parir la burra!!!
 
Havia estat un esportista de grans possibilitats; havia jugat a futbol, 
havia fet atletisme i esgrima, natació...tenia un cos envejable, que el 
feia invencible a l'esquaix, per exemple; i era maco de veure'n els 
músculs dels braços, amb les venes travessant-los de cap a cap. També 
havia fet alguna excursió...recordo una al Pedraforca on vàrem anar 
junts: jo no em canso, deia, i pujava el pendent corrents. Un cop al cim 
va baixar la tartera, que tothom baixava amb compte, com si fos una 
pista d'esquí; un paio que ens va acompanyar em va dir esparverat: ¿el 
teu amic sempre baixa així...?
Quan tornàvem a Barna em va dir que era l'excursió més guapa que havia 
fet mai. Estic content d'haver pogut fer-la amb ell. Per a mi també va 
ser una de les més maques que recordo, evidentment per la seva 
companyia; i em sap greu no haver fet alguna més amb ell.
Bé, et recordo jove amic, i et ploro la teva absència perpètua i 
injusta; i t'estimo.

Tercer disco de los Waterboys. Despues del magnifico "A pagan place", editaron este poderoso disco lleno de influencias celtas. Violines, viento y finas guitarras hacen que la musica de Scott te eleve, desde "Whole of the Moon" hasta "This is the sea", cielo y mar, filosofia y sentimientos aunados en unas maravillosas melodias.

Expanding the epic, multi-layered sound of A Pagan Place, This Is the Sea is a more ambitious yet a more successful record, since it finds Mike Scott at his melodic peak. Consequently, the album has enough strong, accessible moments to make his indulgences forgivable. [The album was expanded in 2004 to include an entire second disc of material.]

Released in October 1985, This Is the Sea was the first Waterboys album to fully capture the "big music" that Mike Scott had been cultivating on the band's two previous recordings. Like A Pagan Place, the shimmering 12-string guitars, rolling piano, and arena-style horn sections serve as the backdrop for Scott's political, spiritual, and inspirational lyrics, but this time around the results are downright mythical. Inspired by the Velvet Underground's mastery of the two-chord song, as well as the writings of C.S. Lewis, George MacDonald, and Dion Fortune, the nine tracks on This Is the Sea are veritable wolf-howls of self-discovery. Scott's challenge to the listener on the spirited opener "Don't Bang the Drum" -- "Well here we are in a special place/What are you gonna do here" -- serves as the blueprint for the entire work, demanding that the search for "The Whole of the Moon" and "The Pan Within" be taken together. Karl Wallinger, who had joined the group halfway through A Pagan Place, became a one-man orchestra on these sessions, providing everything from harmonium to celeste, ably fleshing out Scott's vision. The overall effect is stunning, especially on the larger-than-life title track. "This Is the Sea" is an anthem that works on almost every level; it's a stadium-sized rocker (without any drums), a life-affirming sermon (without being preachy), and, like the rest of the album, an over the top '80s spectacle (without being indulgent). EMI's 2004 reissue features the original remastered album as well as a 14-track bonus disc. This Is the Sea was culled from an arsenal of nearly 40 songs, and unlike 2002's supplemental Fisherman's Blues, Pt. 2 -- on which many of these tunes wrongfully landed -- the omitted cuts are indicative of the record for which they were intended. A longer rendition of "Spirit" -- originally released on the Whole of the Moon 12" -- reaches new heights with its elongated refrain of "high on the wine of life," and the newly uncovered "full-length" version of "Medicine Bow" incorporates a brutal two-and-a-half-minute piano freakout that owes more to David Bowie's Aladdin Sane than it does Van Morrison's Astral Weeks. There's a reverence for the band's anthemic contemporaries that's oddly charming -- "Beverly Penn" and "Sleek White Schooner" sound like Anglo-Springsteen tunes with Anthony Thistlethwaite filling in for Clarence Clemens -- and a previously undisclosed flair for the avant on the instrumentals "High Far Soon" and "Even the Trees Are Dancing" -- the latter reappeared with lyrics on 2003's Universal Hall as "Always Dancing, Never Getting Tired" -- shows a band in its creative prime. The liner notes are fascinating as well, with Scott pointing out the influences, contributions, and exhaustive recording techniques in amiable detail, opening the door to the group's most defining period like a peat fire on a wet winter night. The Waterboys have always been attributed to Scott as a pseudonym, and rightly so, but for a brief moment in the mid-'80s they were a union of musicians and artists at war with apathy, and This Is the Sea was their manifesto.

This was a great album released in 1985. It is now even better. It is the only Waterboys ablum I have ever owned. (and I have heard them all) For some reason this album has an alluring quality to it that beckons the listener to absorb it completely. I was thrilled when it was finally given the treatment it deserved. The remaster is glorious. There are instruments that I never heard on the orginial CD pressing. The packaging is great too. Extensive liner notes make this a great read about how the album was put together. The bonus CD mirrors the quality of the cuts that made the album. The full version of "Spirit" is fantastic and should have been the cut on the actual album. There are a few insrumentals on the bonus CD that could have easily replaced "Be my enemy" which made the cut and should have been omitted in favor of any of the gems on the bside bonus CD. I was very impressed with the overall value and package of this landmark 1985 recording. Buy it...you won't be sorry.

Dreams fue el segundo disco de Slick, la cantante de la Jefferson Airplane. Despues de su separacion de la banda en 1980, grabo este estupendo disco con buenos musicos de estudio, a destacar, Scott Zito a las guitarras. El lp tiene poco que ver con sus trabajos en la Jefferson, son temas con mucho brio y algunos medios tiempos muy inspirados. A mi me gusta mas que el primero, "Manhole". Los dos últimos lps, "Welcome to the Wrecking Ball" y "Software" no estan editados aun en cd que yo sepa, los tengo ripeados de vinilo con un buen sonido: Sofware, Wellcome...

I remember very clearly being given a copy of this album when it came out, back when I was a Jr. in High School. At the time, I was listening to a pretty wide variety of music (like KISS, the Who, Doobie Brothers, Black Sabbath, Amy Grant [yep...Sabbath and Amy back to back], Zeppelin, Genesis [they hadn't yet turned to inconsequential mush, but they were well on their way], etc.), and I was something of a Jefferson Starship fan (I wasn't yet mature enough to really appreciate Jefferson Airplane, but did like some of their stuff). I immediately fell in love with DREAMS. It practically consumed me. The lyrics are extremely personal, and the music is a huge departure for Grace. This is a rare window into the soul of an artist. It is absolutely brilliant. My musical tastes have changed, grown, expanded in inumerable ways since high school (world music, funk, electronica, modern symphonic, etc), but DREAMS remains at the top of my list. And I imagine it always will.

A few years ago, I lost my huge LP collection (along with everything else) in a house fire. DREAMS is the only album that escaped the fire practically untouched. It now hangs framed on the wall in my office.

Thank you, Grace, for sharing your soul with us, and for giving us this enduring work of art.

Aunque no sea la epoca que mas me gusta de Bowie, he de reconocer que en este disco hay algunos temas gloriosos. A partir de Diamond Dogs, Bowie empieza a explorar otros universos. El Funk, la fusion, la electronica... Se une a dos grandes guitarristas, Robert Fripp y Carlos Alomar para hacer este disco algo experimental, y con bastante electronica de por medio con tonos New Wave. Bowie siempre a sido un musico inquieto, y lo demuestra su progresion y sus ganas de hacer siempre algo nuevo. "Scary Monsters" no es un disco que me entusiasme, a no ser por tres de sus canciones, la que da titulo al disco, “Fashion”, un tema pop dance bastante divertido, y “Ashes to Ashes”, el tema culminante del disco, una cancion perfecta en su desarrollo y estructura, creo que es una de sus mejores canciones dentro de un album algo irregular a mi gusto.

David Bowie returned to relatively conventional rock & roll with Scary Monsters, an album that effectively acts as an encapsulation of all his '70s experiments. Reworking glam rock themes with avant-garde synth flourishes, and reversing the process as well, Bowie creates dense but accessible music throughout Scary Monsters. Though it doesn't have the vision of his other classic records, it wasn't designed to break new ground -- it was created as the culmination of Bowie's experimental genre-shifting of the '70s. As a result, Scary Monsters is Bowie's last great album. While the music isn't far removed from the post-punk of the early '80s, it does sound fresh, hip, and contemporary, which is something Bowie lost over the course of the '80s. [Rykodisc's 1992 reissue includes re-recorded versions of "Space Oddity" and "Panic in Detroit," the Japanese single "Crystal Japan," and the British single "Alabama Song."] Some would argue that this is the last great Bowie album, and certainly his only great album of the '80s. While it lacked the bite of its punk brethren at the time, it appealed to some fans of that genre and to middle-of-the-road rockers as well. Muscular playing met with no-frills production, and the product as a whole was infused with a gloriously arty style. "It's No Game (Part I)" opens the album, and is sung in Japanese, and "It's No Game (Part II)" closes, in English. New York punker Tom Verlaine even contributed a track ("Kingdom Come"), and "Scream Like a Baby" tells a dark and violent story with a howl. The drug-oriented "Ashes to Ashes" confesses that Major Tom was a junky while sounding all sleek and alluring, and the dance floor hit "Fashion" took aim at its very subject. Lo primero que hago al llegar a S. Quirze, es acercarme a la orilla del Ter para ver a mis pequeños amigos bajo los sauces. Realmente creo que se ha convertido en un ritual acercarme al lugar y hacer algunas fotos. De 30 pueden quedar bien 10, y de esas 10 cuatro o cinco son aprovechables. Por suerte, la luz ahi casi siempre es buena, filtrada por las hojas de los arboles. Me gusta ese sitio.

Una tarde cayo una tormenta corta pero intensa, con piedra incluida, creo que serian mas de 20 litros en menos de 20 minutos. Despues el cielo se abrió, y el espectaculo fue fabuloso. Creo que las fotos no le hacen justicia.

Ahi estoy mirando al cielo, como despedida de las vacaciones... Espero que os hayan gustado las fotografias, aunque sean de patos ;)

Queralbs

Iglesia romanica de Queralbs, del siglo X. Cinco columnas de marmol azul soportan las arcadas. Los capiteles estan en un estado inmejorable, y las tallas son soberbias.

En lo alto de los muros, crecen plantas carnosas de vivos colores, una delicia para la vista.

Encontramos al "mosen" bajando la calle y dispuesto a abrir la capilla. El interior es muy sobrio, la luz entrando por tres pequeñas ventanas nos obligo a iluminar artificialmente la estancia. El cura, detras nuestro, rezaba en silencio.

"Queralbs se encuentra en lo alto del valle de Ripoll, antes de llegar a las entradas del valle de Núria. Desde tiempos antíguos el lugar se conoció con el nombre de "Kerosalbos" , en el que porbablemente se construyera una primitiva iglesia ya por el siglo IX, que diera cabida a la pequeña población existente. Mas adelante en el tiempo, crecería el número de habitantes del valle, por lo que sería necesario la ampliación del templo para dar cabida al aumento de feligreses. Todo ello se deduce conociendo la fecha de la consagración en el año 1140, después de una remodelación de la construcción existente, ya en pleno periodo románico.

Probablementes no fuera ésta la última modificación del edificio, ya que el terremoto de 1427 destruyó parte de él, y según las crónicas prácticamente la mitad de la población de la localidad pereció en el seismo, debiendose rehacer la bóveda de la nave y algunos otros elementos importatnes como el campanario, que anteriormente era en forma de espadaña. Ademas, el coro esta datado en el siglo XVII, por lo que lo que hoy nos queda es la planta original y el ábside semicircular.

EXTERIOR

Desde el exterior se puede apreciar que la iglesia se compone de una sola nave, con un porche adosado al lado sur, con una magnífica galería porticada. El ábside, semicircular, es sencillo, sin decoración, así como el campanario y los muros. La cubierta, a dos aguas, se recubre con una techumbre de tejas de pizarra.

PORTAL DE ENTRADA

La puerta que da acceso a la nave se sitúa dentro del porche, se compone de un sencillo arco de medio punto. Destacan algunos de los herrajes y bisagras originales que la decoran, un trabajo de forja poco elaborado realizado probablemente en el mismo lugar.

GALERÍA PORTICADA

Como ya se ha avanzado, la galería se compone por seis arcos de medio punto adovelados, apoyados en 5 columnas que descansan sobre una repisa. Es una de las que se conserva en mejor estado de Cataluña y debido a la calidad de las tallas la hacen única en su estilo. Cierra el muro sur del porche de entrada y el aparejo de sus mampuestos se mantiene regular y bien trabajado, las piedras de las arcadas son de piedra calcárea, mientras que las de las columnas y arcos son de mármol blanco-azulado, probablemente recogido de alguna cantera cercana. Los capiteles, como ya se ha dicho, se mantienen en un excelente estado de conservación pudiendose apreciar aún las marcas de trabajo del cincel y la escarpa.

EL INTERIOR

La cubierta de la nave esta resuelta mediante una bóveda de cañón ligeramente apuntada, que remata en la cabecera con el muro, debido a la restauración tardía del siglo XV y siguiendo los cánones de la época. Bajo la cabecera, aparece el ábside semicircular, con unos frescos modernos que imitan pinturas medievales. La mampostería es idéntica a la vista desde el exterior, de aspecto sencillo y rústico. La iluminación se consigue a través de una ventana situada en el ábside y otras dos sencillas en el lado sur, abiertas al muro. Frente a la entrada, aparece una piola bautismal.

La puertas aun conservan restos de la forja original, la fecha que lleva la cerradura es de 1802.

Llegamos a Queralbs sobre las 9 de la mañana, cuando el sol lanzaba luces y sombras muy agresivas sobre las piedras de las casas. Solo un par de horas mas tarde pude hacer alguna foto decente de sus calles.

Ovejas en el pueblo de Bruguera listas para ser transportadas a su fatal desenlace. Dos enormes perros pastores me impidieron acercarme mas. No se las veia muy felices.

Si vais por la zona, pasaros por el "cobert de Puigcercos", un restaurante y pension en plena montaña junto a un rio truchero, donde podreis almorzar como marqueses y comer como reyes. Carretera de S. Quirze a Berga

Este es uno de los discos mas desconocidos de Todd, y uno de los mejores. Despues de disolver Nazz, Todd se dedico ha crear discos de gran belleza, "Runt" "The Ballad.." "Something Anything"... El multiinstrumentista nos regala aquí unas canciones intimistas, sencillas y bellas. Su musica no es facil, pero este disco se deja escuchar sin muchas complicaciones. Música bien hecha y cantada con sensibilidad.

Upon its release, Rolling Stone called The Ballad of Todd Rundgren "the best album Paul McCartney" never made, and even if the album doesn't sound particularly McCartney-esque, it does share the homespun, melodic charm of the best of his early albums. Arguably, it's better than Paul's solo work, since it is focused and subtle, never drawing attention to Rundgren's considerable skills as a writer and producer. He tones down the hard rock and his impish wit, lending the album a sense of direction missing on Runt. That's not to say he abandoned his sense of humor -- as if the cover shot of Rundgren sitting at a piano with a noose around his neck left any doubt. This time around, it takes some careful listening to hear the jokes, such as the opening Floyd Cramer piano lick on "Range War." On such clever in-jokes as "Chain Letter," as well as ballads like "Hope I'm Around," the artist reveals himself as an exceptional craftsman and songsmith. In fact, Ballad is considerably more song-oriented than its predecessor, with very little of the jams and instrumental sections that occasionally bogged down Runt. Here, even propulsive pop tunes such as "Bleeding" and "Long Flowing Robe," along with the hard rocker "Parole," are as much about the song as the performance, which is probably appropriate for an album called The Ballad of Todd Rundgren. Another thing about that title -- it may be a joke, but the album inarguably offers a glimpse into Rundgren's inner world through a combination of introspective ballads, off-hand jokes, musical virtuosity, outright weirdness, and unabashed showmanship. And that's the charm of The Ballad -- it's the slyly sardonic masterwork of a loner who may be sensitive, but is certainly not shy. AMG

En buenas condiciones de luz, las fotografias salen casi solas. Prefiero el sol de primera hora, o el del atardecer.

En el camino al volcan de la ciudad de Olot, puedes ir parando para rezar el viacrucis o para descansar a medida que subes al crater.

El enorme roble de Vidrá nos muestra su musgo parasito. Es uno de los robles mas grandes que he visto.

Hace años pinte la "casa de los franceses" y le regale el cuadro a mis tios. El sitio no ha cambiado demasiado, sigue la misma valla de madera carcomida.

Nuria

Escogimos un dia soleado para subir al valle de Nuria, ahi casi siempre hace frio aunque luzca el sol. Un tiempo muy agradable. El valle tiene un origen glaciar, de la epoca cuaternaria. La dureza extrema de la roca impidio extender el valle, asi que las escarpaduras de mas abajo contrastan con lo abierto del valle de Nuria.

Ribas de Freser

"El viaje para acceder a la Vall de Núria se puede hacer en coche hasta Queralbs o Ribes de Freser, también podéis dejaros llevar en tren desde Barcelona. Si os decantáis por la primera opción, el coche quedará aparcado durante vuestra estancia, en un nuevo parquing cubierto que se ha construido en la estación ferroviaria de Ribes-Vila. Si por el contrario elegís la tranquilidad del tren, la estación de RENFE de Ribes-Enlace es compartida con la del cremallera por lo que el trasbordo no tiene ninguna dificultad.

El tren cremallera (que este año cumple su 75 aniversario) se coge desde Ribes de Freser (Estación de Ribes-Enlace o Ribes-Vila) o desde Queralbs. Un trayecto de 12.5 km, que asciende 1.000 metros de desnivel y de unos 40 minutos de duración nos llevará hasta la base de la estación. Estar atentos a la llegada del cremallera a Núria ya que las vistas y la sensación es impresionante. Después de disfrutar del paso entre gargantas y acantilados, de repente, te encuentras frente al anfiteatro natural de Núria, con el monasterio (actualmente convertido en hotel), imperturbable, presidiendo el escenario. Digno de contemplar con nieve y sin ella."

Trigo (Triticum spp)

La recolección suele realizarse desde mediados de mayo a finales de otoño, según las regiones; siendo el método de recolección más recomendable la cosechadora.
El momento más conveniente para realizar la siega es aquel en que los tallos han perdido por completo su color verde y el grano tiene suficiente consistencia. El corte del tallo se hará a unos 30 cm. del suelo y se llevará regulada por la cosechadora.

Llega el periodo de vacaciones, creo que ya nos lo merecemos despues de un año de madrugones y stresses varios. Me gustaria hacer como mi buen amigo Paco y su mujer, Angela, que cada año se montan unas vacaciones de fabula a Islandia, Sudafrica, Canada... este año repiten Australia, la zona del Kimberly, uno de los lugares mas hermosos del mundo. Espero ver pronto sus fotografias y filmaciones. Yo por ahora no puedo montarme esos "trips", asi que iremos al "pople" los quinze dias que tengo, a tomar el sol en el patio y caminar por el monte pirenaico.

Estoy desde el viernes sin linea telefonica y por ende, sin internet (esto lo escribo desde el trabajo). Abrieron una incedencia nº tal y tal, y al llamar el sabado para saber como estaba el asunto, la incedencia estaba cerrada, sin mas explicaciones. Se abrio oto parte de averia y ya veremos si antes del miercoles se arregla. Asi que los que estais bajando algo del blog o de alguna web puesto por mi y pocas fuentes, paciencia.

Voy a aprovechar para poner algunas fotos que tenia en la antigua web, finiquitada por no pagar los 100€ que me pedian.

Estas fotos tienen muy poca resolucion, prometo poner los originales en una calidad decente.

Recuerdo cuando compre, nada mas salir, este disco en una tienda de Vic. Nos desplazamos expresamente para adquirirlo en el verano del 74. Lo pinche en el tocadiscos del garage donde nos reuniamos, y despues de escucharlo nos quedamos mirando sin decir nada. Era fantastico. El disco se abre con "If You Can Rock Me", un rock rabioso que mantiene un riff agresivo y machacon, pura dinamita que nos prepara para lo que vendra despues. "Luxury" y "Dance little sister" son otras muestras del poder de Richards para componer temas sencillos y directos. En este disco tocaba Mike Taylor la guitarra solista, y por mi podia haber seguido en lugar de Wood. Taylor le da un contrapunto a la agresividad de Keith y suaviza el sonido. En este disco se destapa como un magistral guitarrista, emulando a Santana en "Time waits for no one", un tema sensacional con un solo de mas de 2 minutos, fantastico. El disco se cierra con "Fingerprint File", con aires funk y mucho wa-wa, un tema muy bien concebido y que cierra uno de los ultimos grandes discos de los Stones. Despues llego "Black & Blue", disco que me decepciono profundamente.

It's Only Rock 'N' Roll find the Stones picking up the tempo after the slower more subdued Goats Head Soup. The album opens with a challenge in the rollicking "If You Can Rock Me". The band moves into a spirited cover of the Temptations classic "Ain't Too Proud To Beg" which stands up well next to the original. The title cut has the classic line that sums up the band's attitude, "I know it's only rock n roll, but I like it". "Till The Next Goodbye" is one of the prettiest songs the band has ever done and "Time Waits For No One" finds them in a pensive mood. The album kind of sags a little bit after that with throwaways like "Short & Curlies" & "If You Really Want...", but closes strongly with the funk workout "Fingerprint Files". The album keeps a trend that started on Goats Head Soup and one that the band would follow for much of the rest of their career (with a few exceptions), some very strong and good songs mixed in with filler.

The band themselves were displeased with this record, feeling that the production did not capture their on-stage energy and excitement. Yet to most ears, this debut sounds pretty great, featuring some of their most melodic and accomplished songwriting and harmonies, delivered with a hard-rocking punch. "For What It's Worth" was the hit single, but there are several other equally stunning treasures. Stephen Stills' "Go and Say Goodbye" was a pioneering country-rock fusion; his "Sit Down I Think I Love You" was the band at their poppiest and most early Beatlesque; and his "Everybody's Wrong" and "Pay the Price" were tough rockers. Although Neil Young has only two lead vocals on the record (Richie Furay sang three other Young compositions), he's already a songwriter of great talent and enigmatic lyricism, particularly on "Nowadays Clancy Can't Even Sing," "Out of My Mind," and "Flying on the Ground Is Wrong." The entire album bursts with thrilling guitar and vocal interplay, with a bright exuberance that would tone down considerably by their second record. [A 1997 CD reissue presents both mono and stereo mixes of the album, and includes "Baby Don't Scold Me" (which was on the first pressing of the record, but was soon replaced by "For What It's Worth").]

David Bowie fired the Spiders From Mars shortly after the release of Pin Ups, but he didn't completely leave the Ziggy Stardust persona behind. Diamond Dogs suffers precisely because of this -- he doesn't know how to move forward. Originally conceived as a concept album based on George Orwell's 1984, Diamond Dogs evolved into another one of Bowie's paranoid future nightmares. Throughout the album, there are hints that he's tired with the Ziggy formula, particularly in the disco underpinning of "Candidate" and his cut-and-paste lyrics. However, it's not enough to make Diamond Dogs a step forward, and without Mick Ronson to lead the band, the rockers are too stiff to make an impact. Ironically, the one exception is one of Bowie's very best songs -- the tight, sexy "Rebel Rebel." The song doesn't have much to do with the theme, and the ones he does throw in to further the story usually fall flat. Diamond Dogs isn't a total waste, with "1984," "Candidate," and "Diamond Dogs" all offering some sort of pleasure, but it is the first record since Space Oddity where Bowie's reach exceeds his grasp.

The internal dissension that was already eating away at Buffalo Springfield's dynamic on their second album came home to roost on their third and final effort, Last Time Around. This was in some sense a Buffalo Springfield album in name but not in spirit, as the songwriters sometimes did not even play on cuts written by other members of the band. Neil Young's relatively slight contribution was a particularly tough blow. He wrote only two of the songs (though he did help Richie Furay write "It's So Hard to Wait"), both of which were outstanding: the plaintive "I Am a Child" and the bittersweet "On the Way Home" (sung by Furay, not Young, on the record). The rest of the ride was bumpier: Stephen Stills' material in particular was not as strong as it had been on the first two LPs, though the lovely Latin-flavored "Pretty Girl Why," with its gorgeous guitar work, is one of the group's best songs. Furay was developing into a quality songwriter with the orchestrated "The Hour of Not Quite Rain" and his best Springfield contribution, the beautiful ballad "Kind Woman," which became one of the first country-rock standards. But it was a case of not enough, too late, not only for Furay, but for the group as a whole.

El último y muy estimable testimonio de la calidad y buen hacer de Buffalo Springfield, un magnífico supergrupo que a pesar de las diferencias personales derivadas de la inevitable confrontación de egos, de la dispersión individual y de la chocante fuerte personalidad de sus miembros, consiguió crear un espléndido álbum en el que se armonizan variados géneros como el country, el blues, el folk y el pop. Entre ellas "The hour of not quite rain" (con unos portentosos arreglos), "Merry-go-round" y "Kind woman". Stephen Stills continúa en su línea maestra, acertando plenamente en temazos de tintura más negra como "Pretty girl why", "Four days gone", "Special care", "Questions" y "Uno mundo" (donde se permite chapucear algunas palabras en español). Incluso el productor y bajista Jim Messina compone una de las canciones de mayor regusto country del álbum, "Carefree country day". Después de finiquitar la breve vida del grupo con este subestimado "Last time around", la mayoría de sus miembros prosiguieron en el mundillo musical. Stephen Stills se uniría a sus compinches David Crosby y Graham Nash para formar el famoso trío Crosby, Stills & Nash, el cual contó a veces con la incorporación de Neil Young.
